Building Emergency Preparedness Plans (BEPPs) are detailed planning documents that describe
emergency and disaster responses for occupants of specific UAMS buildings. Each building's
BEPP includes documentation such as:
Building-specific evacuation and shelter in place procedures
Lists of assigned emergency coordinators, occupants, departments and equipment assigned to the
building
Locations of emergency supplies and automatic external defibrillators
Documents for creating BEPPs
The UAMS Emergency Management Department provides two files to help those responsible for
BEPPs—typically building or clinic managers—to build their plans:
Background information about why BEPPs are important
A high-level review of BEPP components and content
Responsibilities and requirements for those who develop, maintain and implement BEPPs
Steps for completing each section of the UAMS BEPP Template if you choose to use it
The UAMS BEPP Template, an optional
tool for developing all or parts of BEPPs
The Template shows information your BEPP must contain, such as specific data for a list or roster. However, it does not dictate format. For example,
if you have a building equipment inventory or emergency coordinator roster in a spreadsheet, that’s fine. However, its formatting may come in handy
if you need to develop brand-new material.
If you decide to use all or parts of the Template for your BEPP, save it to your device.
Content is more important than format, so you can incorporate existing BEPP material into the
Template or even create a set of related files in different formats that comprise a BEPP.
