Group training
The Department of Emergency Management offers these proven group training methods to prepare UAMS
to respond to and recover from emergencies:
Seminars that cover policies, regulations, emergency management programs and procedures,
the UAMS Incident Command System (ICS) and its roles and responsibilities.
Workshops in which Emergency Management staff help other departments create their
Business Continuity Plans, Building Emergency Preparedness Plans, emergency standard
operating procedures (SOPs), checklists and training programs.
Tabletop exercises, which are discussion-based sessions to train or evaluate leaders on
procedures and responses by talking through emergency scenarios.
Drills and exercises that replicate actual hazards or incidents to test emergency response
plans, procedures and actions.
Training and guidance on SOPs can be highly customized, such as how to evacuate patients with
specific conditions from a particular location.
